Hair loss Puran

"Abb toh rukk jaa bhaiii". We all are in this phase right now. Right? From trying all the homemade stuff to trying daadi aur naani ke nuskhes, we have come a long way. But hua kyaa? kuch nhi, Ruka toh abhi tak nahi.

Actually losing around 50-100 strands of hair is normal, because of the hair life cycle, as confirmed by the AAD(American Academy of Dermatology) Association. But if it sheds more than that and if we face sudden hair loss, or noticeable thinning or losing patches of hair, then it is a concern. This is called Telogen effluvium.

The best way to stop hair loss is by understanding the underlying reason. Go and visit your doctor and find out the medical condition behind hair loss.

But there are ways in which we should take care of our daily routine, and by incorporating those in our routine we can actually prevent hair loss and encourage hair growth.

" Toh chaliye shuru karte hai"

Hair loss can be stressful ! Right ?

What Causes Hair loss?

Let us first understand the underlying reasons for hair loss. The hairs go through a life cycle consisting of three phases :

  • Anagen phase  - The growing phase of hair.
  • Catagen phase -  The Transition phase.
  • Telogen phase -   The resting phase.

People tend to lose 50 to 100 scalp hairs per day as part of the natural hair cycle. But after the resting phase, extra hairs start to shed out and New hairs are unable to replace the hairs that have fallen out, that's when it becomes noticeable and it is a concern.

Hair loss can be Temporary or permanent. It depends on its severity and the underlying reasons.

Let's look at the main reasons associated with hair loss:

1Genetics ( heredity) - You must have already heard about it. This is the most common cause of hair loss. It is called androgenic alopecia (male-pattern baldness and female-pattern baldness). This is the most common cause of hair loss and affects about 50% of people. In this case, our hair follicles start to shrink and eventually stop growing hair. In men, it is typically visible because of receding hairline and bald spots on the head. In females, it is the widening of the hairline and overall thinning of hair. This runs throughout the family. In this case, visiting the doctor is recommended.

2Stress - One of the most important reasons nowadays is stress. Hair loss can be triggered because of the intense amount of stress. According to Penn Medicine, Stress or any emotional trauma can cause acute telogen effluvium. Padhai hai ki khatam naa ho rha, career ka tension, relationship wale alag ek dusre ko kaat rahe, financial problems, loss of loved ones, etc. We are in a world where we are surrounded by stress everywhere. Stress disrupts the normal cycle of hair growth. But this is a temporary condition, hair loss due to stress can be stopped by gaining control of stress. There are many ways by which we can do so. We will talk about it aage chalke.

Match ko leke zyaada stress loge toh hair loss toh hoga hi !

3. Hormonal ImbalancesHair loss can also occur because of hormonal changes which can be because of puberty, thyroids pregnancy, menopause, childbirth, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Conditions such as alopecia areata, scalp infections such as ringworm and Sebborheic dermatitis, trichotillomania are all reasons associated with hair loss. In men, Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is one of the major reasons for hair loss.

Hair loss due to hormonal changes can be temporary or permanent. In cases of puberty, pregnancy, menopause, childbirth, etc. it is temporary and it slows down and stops once the phase ends. But in other cases, it's best to visit a doctor.

4. Nutritional Deficiencies - If your diet is not full of nutrition, it can be a reason for your hair loss. Iron, Zinc, Selenium, vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, and Biotin all have to be a part of our diet. Lack of any one of them can cause hair loss. We will discuss what food we should consume to fulfill our nutritional needs.

5. Lack of Proper Sleep - Hum GenZ logo ka sabse bada dikkat. Naa Time se sote hai, Naa Time se uthte hai. Proper sleep helps restore and adequately synthesize hair proteins, and release enzymes and growth hormones which are all required for Healthy hair. Lack of sleep stresses people which ultimately results in the falling of hair.

Tip. The best way to have proper sleep is- Avoid the Opposite Gender after 12 AM.

6. Diseases and Medication - Hair can also fall out because of undergoing medical conditions and because of side effects caused by the medicines. Medicines for blood pressure, cancer, antidepressants, birth control pills, Cholesterol-lowering drugs, thyroid, weight loss, and steroids all can cause hair loss.

In cases of hair loss due to medication, hair may start to grow back once the person stops taking the medication.

7. Overstyling - Ever wondered why people are losing hair nowadays from their teenage? Hamare dada-papa ke zamaane mei toh yeh nahi hota tha, but ab ho raha. It's because of the constant use of heat: Hair dryers, Hair blowers. Products for styling such as Hair gels, Hair Wax, Hair Powder, etc. Too much use of all these destroys the hair follicles and it ultimately leads to hair loss.

If this is the reason behind your hair loss, limiting heat and styling products can reduce and ultimately stop hair loss.
Avoid this mistake!

You all must be thinking " Bhai yeh sab toh jaan liye, abb bata bhi do ki iska samadhaan kya haiii ? " Okay, so after a long session of Gyaan, let us jump to the main topic now.
